Are you a college basketball fan? Have you been watching any of the games during March Madness?

I have been paying a bit more attention this year because my Wisconsin Badgers are a #1 seed and have made it to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in the past five years. For Michigan St., it’s their seventh trip out of the last eight years. Hearing about the consistency and success of these basketball programs really got me thinking.

Why is it that year in and year out the same college basketball teams repeatedly make the Sweet 16?

The venues change, the uniforms change and the players change but the one thing that remains the same are the tremendous coaches leading their teams deep into the NCAA tournament.

This may be new to you but a good financial adviser will share many of the same attributes as an elite college basketball coach. In this video, we discuss the six core values a good financial planner will provide for a successful financial team (family).

During halftime this weekend, take five minutes to think about your financial team’s coaches & support staff. Are they eliminating your Money Madness? Are they helping you create the success and consistency you need in your financial life? If they aren’t, you should find a new financial planner.
