Associate Financial Planner Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Financial Planner to join our growing team. If you are looking to become a CFP® professional, this opportunity might be a good fit for you. The Associate Financial Planner works with our Financial Planners and Client Service Team to provide an excellent experience for our clients. The role covers all aspects of financial planning including data gathering and analysis, trading and portfolio management, meeting preparation and follow up, and general support to the entire team.

This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined processes where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. It is vital for the work output to be very high quality, with correct results, time and time again. Both the content and the presentation are important; all work must be highly polished.

A qualified candidate must be passionate about helping clients, reliable, organized, and goal-oriented. This position requires the ability to work well in both a self‐directed manner and in a collaborative environment while embracing the firm’s core values. Responsibilities we’ll trust you with

  • Prepare and assemble client meeting agendas and supporting documentation
  • Conduct analysis and research and prepare deliverables for client meetings
  • Execute portfolio trading and rebalancing
  • Participate in client meetings with advisors
  • Take appropriate notes for every client meeting attended
  • Draft meeting summary letters and ensure they are completed and sent out timely
  • Enter and analyze client data using a variety of analytical tools and programs including eMoney, Salesforce, Riskalyze, Excel worksheets, and others
  • Create and maintain financial plans in eMoney
  • Compile and input investment account information into financial planning software to create portfolio reviews
  • Assist with phone coverage when needed
  • Use Salesforce and Asana to track all activities
  • Maintain eMoney, Salesforce and Asana with pertinent client information
  • Create and maintain the SOPs and checklists of all relevant job responsibilities and tasks
  • Take initiative to fix or address issues
  • Cross-trained on all client account paperwork and vital administrative functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required – Financial Planning or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting financial advisors
  • Seeking a defined career path in financial planning
  • Seeking to obtain CFP® designation
  • Exceptional Attentional to Detail
  • Basic understanding of income taxes
  • Highly skilled at organization, accurate data entry, and following standard procedures
  • Builds rapport with a variety of personalities
  • Have a passion for helping people
  • Ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment and adapt to changes with a flexible attitude
  • A problem solver who can work independently but also be a team player with a ‘no job is beneath me’ attitude
  • Interest in mastering financial planning and the financial markets
