Financial Planner Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Planner to join our growing team. If you are a CFP® professional with at least 3 years of diverse and comprehensive financial planning experience, this might be a good fit for you. This role will give you the opportunity to work directly with clients and help shape the future of a highly committed and cutting-edge financial planning firm.

The Financial Planner works with our Lead Advisors and Associate Financial Planners to provide an excellent experience for our clients. The Financial Planner will be asked to lead client planning relationships within 3 to 6 months, so it is important that you have experience in addressing a variety of personal financial planning topics and are ready and willing to be the main point of contact for a client.

In this role, you will be preparing for client meetings, conducting analysis, participating in client meetings, completing follow up communications and the implementation of action items that result from client meetings. In addition, you will prepare financial life plans including building financial models, performing financial analysis, conducting client-specific research, coordinating with outside service providers, and developing recommendations.

Responsibilities we’ll trust you with

  • Prepare and/or review client meeting agendas and supporting documentation
  • Participate in client meetings with advisors, present recommendations, and take notes as requested
  • Draft and/or review meeting summary letters and ensure they are completed and sent out timely
  • Conduct analysis and research related to the full range of financial planning areas (cash flow, goal planning, investments, risk management, estate planning, taxes, real estate)
  • Create and maintain financial plans in eMoney
  • Compile and input investment account information into financial planning software to create portfolio reviews
  • Help clients implement our recommendations
  • Maintain eMoney, Salesforce and other systems with pertinent client information
  • Coordinate with outside professionals and advisors on behalf of clients (e.g. tax planning, insurance reviews, estate planning, etc.)
  • Communicate with clients
  • Create and maintain the SOPs and checklists of all relevant job responsibilities and tasks
  • Take initiative to fix or address issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required – Financial Planning or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning required
  • CFP® designation required
  • Series 65 (or equivalent) required
  • Seeking a defined career path in financial planning
  • Exceptional attentional to detail
  • Highly skilled at organization, accurate data entry, and following standard procedures
  • Builds rapport with a variety of personalities

  • Ability to operate in a highly dynamic environment and adapt to changes with a flexible attitude
