Summary Description / Primary Role

We are seeking an Associate Financial Planner to join our growing team.  If you are a CFP® certificant, or would like to become one, this might be a good fit for you. This role will allow for the opportunity to immediately work directly with clients and help shape the future of a highly committed financial planning firm. You’ll work with industry veterans and a large portion of your time and will focus on nurturing existing client relationships. Candidates should passionately believe that client interests always come first.

A qualified candidate must be passionate about helping clients, reliable, organized, and goal oriented.  This position requires the ability to work well in both a self-directed manner and in a collaborative environment while embracing the firm’s core values

Client Service Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of financial planning and client service
  • Prepare reports for client service requests
  • Development of retirement projections, income tax estimates, risk management analysis
  • Continuously monitor clients’ financial situations from both detailed and big picture perspectives
  • Prepare client account paperwork
  • Contact clients to schedule meetings and conference calls
  • Receive inbound client phone calls and emails, either addressing their needs or directing them to the appropriate team member
  • Eventually attend client meetings and take notes for lead financial planner
  • Complete follow-up communication and implementation of actions that result from client meetings
  • Assist in portfolio rebalancing and execution of trades

Team Service Responsibilities

  • Assist planners in preparing for meetings with the ability to anticipate colleague and client needs
  • Update database with notes and actions
  • Manage client document system
  • Develop content for the company newsletter, blog and social media platforms
  • Develop and maintain written systems of all activities
  • Attend all firm events

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Qualifications and Characteristics

  • Seeking a defined career path in financial planning
  • CFP® designation
  • B.A. or B.S. degree from accredited four year university
  • Knowledge of the securities industry, financial planning and investment management
  • Must be a self-starter, problem solver and a goal-oriented team player with a ‘no job is beneath me’ attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Very organized, with acute attention to detail
  • Genuinely caring by nature
  • Empathizes and listens to clients
  • Demonstrates curiosity and confidence when dealing with clients and lead planner
  • A burning desire to succeed
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Financial planning software competency; preferably with Money Guide Pro®
