The Illumination Wealth Team is excited to introduce to you its newest member, Andrew Costello. Read below as he shares his future goals and what he is doing to advance his career. Also, learn a little more about his background and his interests outside of work!
What brought you into this profession?
Curiosity and a passion for helping others led me to this profession. Growing up, I watched my Mother move into new roles at a financial services company, ultimately
ending up as a Senior Financial Consultant. I had been curious from early on as to what she did and how she helped people. It came as no surprise to her when I joined the industry shortly after graduating from college. I was quickly enthralled by the idea that
how we help others understand complex issues as well as giving them the tools to make informed financial decisions could ultimately change their lives for the better.
What are your passions outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, photography and spending time at the beach. Learning how to surf is on my agenda now that I live near the ocean.
What is one goal you’re saving for?
One goal I’m saving for is a down payment on a home. Although I’m a number of years away from attaining this goal, I realize starting now will allow me approach
it in a more intentional, disciplined manner.
What’s your favorite book?
My favorite book is “The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham. I highly recommend the version that includes Jason Zweig’s review. I read this book around the
time I entered the industry and it brought clarity around investing as well as helped form a foundation.
What is the primary way you’re advancing your career?
Through studying for the CFP® exam. I plan to sit for the exam in November this year (2018). I also listen to a number of Michael Kitces and XY Planning podcasts to stay relevant on the financial planning profession.
