Matt Rinkey

Since graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Business in 2002, Founder and President Matt Rinkey has spent his entire career in financial services. Matt brings to Illumination over a decade of extensive financial industry experience. After college, Matt spent time working as an accountant at his father’s CPA Practice before heading to Wall Street.

Prior to founding Illumination, Matt was Senior Analyst for Kellogg Capital Group and Millennium Partners, a multi-billion dollar hedge fund in headquartered in New York City. For both firms, Matt had had lead research responsibilities for one of the firm’s portfolios and oversaw the portfolio’s market hedging strategy. Matt lives in San Diego, CA with his amazing wife Lindy, their son Louie, daughter Charli, and dog Onyx.

Ben Rinkey

Ben joined Illumination Wealth in 2014 as an investment advisor. He brings with him over 40 years of investment experience. Ben has had a successful investment career throughout many different market environments. Prior to joining Illumination Wealth, Ben was a Senior Fixed Income Portfolio Manager advising on over $6 billion of fixed income assets at Voyageur Asset Management and Piper Capital Management.

While at Piper, Ben started and managed the number one ranked Lipper Government Bond Mutual Fund. Ben was also CEO and board member of one recently acquired investment advisory firm, and is currently a board member and treasurer of a successful privately held manufacturing company. In addition, Ben has appeared on CNBC and frequently appeared on Minnesota Public Radio’s “Sound Money”. For many years he did a regularly broadcast market commentary on WCCO radio. He has been featured in numerous publications such as Fortune, Barron’s, Chicago Tribune, Minneapolis Star Tribune and many others.

Norman Mangina

Norman joined Illumination in 2015 as an Associate Financial Planner. Prior to joining Illumination, he worked as a CPA in a public accounting firm, was manager of corporate income taxes at BellSouth, and led the financial operations team at CareerBuilder. Norman brings a diverse array of financial experiences to Illumination.

Norman earned his master’s degree from the University of Georgia specializing in tax . He got interested in investing during college and made personal finance a focus of his ever since. Norman moved to San Diego from Chicago in 2014 with his partner Matt and enjoys traveling, technology, photography, and cooking.

Michelle Hewitt

Michelle joined Illumination in 2012 as the Director of Client Service. Prior to joining Illumination, she spent over 10 years providing an exceptional client service experience within a number of different industries. Most recently, Michelle worked as a Paraplanner and Client Service Manager for a successful Financial Advisory practice in San Diego. Michelle is well versed in insurance and holds her CA insurance license.

You will find Michelle as kind, positive, and dependable as they come. Michelle is happily married to her husband Craig, and they have two beautiful children. When Michelle is not having fun at work, she spends most of her time with her family including three happy dogs and a bird. In their free time, Michelle and her family enjoy traveling, hiking, walking, playing games, and helping their community through volunteer work.
